Amends the School Code. Makes technical changes in a Section concerning teacher certification.

A BILL FOR

AN ACT in relation to education.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The School Code is amended by changing Section 21-2b as follows:

(105 ILCS 5/21-2b) (from Ch. 122, par. 21-2b)

Sec. 21-2b. Teacher education program entrance. In consultation with the State Teacher Certification Board the State Board of Education shall develop procedures that which ensure that all students entering approved teacher education programs are proficient in the areas of reading, mathematics and language arts. Each institution of higher learning shall submit to the State Teacher Certification Board a plan that which sets forth procedures for implementation of this Section.
