Amends the Illinois Notary Public Act. Makes a technical change in a Section concerning the purposes of the Act.

A BILL FOR

AN ACT concerning notaries public.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Illinois Notary Public Act is amended by changing Section 1-102 as follows:

(5 ILCS 312/1-102) (from Ch. 102, par. 201-102)

Sec. 1-102. Purposes and Rules of Construction. (a) This Act shall be construed and shall be applied to promote its underlying purposes and policies.

(b) The underlying purposes and policies of this Act are:

(1) to simplify, clarify, and modernize the law governing notaries public; and

(2) to promote, serve, and protect the public interest.
