 1        AN ACT regarding schools.

 2        Be it enacted by the People of  the  State  of  Illinois,
 3    represented in the General Assembly:

 4        Section  5.  The School Code is amended by adding Section
 5    22-31 as follows:

 6        (105 ILCS 5/22-31 new)
 7        Sec. 22-31. Student discipline; non-public schools.   The
 8    governing  body  of  each non-public school in this State, in
 9    consultation  with  parents,  teachers,  and  community-based
10    organizations,  must  include  provisions  in  the   school's
11    student  discipline  policy  to  address  students  who  have
12    demonstrated  behaviors  that put them at risk for aggressive
13    behavior, including without limitation bullying,  as  defined
14    in  the  policy. These provisions must include procedures for
15    notifying parents or legal guardians and  early  intervention
16    procedures  based  upon  available community-based and school
17    resources.
