 1        AN ACT in relation to support.

 2        Be  it  enacted  by  the People of the State of Illinois,
 3    represented in the General Assembly:

 4        Section 5.  The Unified Code of Corrections is amended by
 5    adding Section 3-4-5 as follows:

 6        (730 ILCS 5/3-4-5 new)
 7        Sec. 3-4-5.  Child support  obligation.  If  a  committed
 8    person  has been ordered by a court of competent jurisdiction
 9    or an administrative tribunal to make  periodic  payments  of
10    child support, the Department shall take appropriate steps to
11    encourage the committed person to make those payments as they
12    become  due  and  to  satisfy  any  outstanding child support
13    arrearage.

14        Section 99.  Effective date. This Act takes  effect  upon
15    becoming law.
