 1        AN ACT in relation to crime victims.

 2        Be  it  enacted  by  the People of the State of Illinois,
 3    represented in the General Assembly:

 4        Section 5. The Crime Victims Compensation Act is  amended
 5    by adding Section 6.2 as follows:

 6        (740 ILCS 45/6.2 new)
 7        Sec.  6.2.  Crime victims; equal treatment. A victim of a
 8    crime of violence shall be treated  equally  with  any  other
 9    victim  of  a  crime of violence. Any compensation under this
10    Act may not be reduced or denied to a victim because  of  his
11    or  her  race,  color,  creed,  national  origin, sex, sexual
12    orientation, or opinion on the death penalty.

13        Section 99. Effective date. This Act  takes  effect  upon
14    becoming law.
