 1        AN ACT concerning payment for health care services.

 2        Be it enacted by the People of  the  State  of  Illinois,
 3    represented in the General Assembly:

 4        Section  5.  The  Illinois  Insurance  Code is amended by
 5    adding Section 155.39 as follows:

 6        (215 ILCS 5/155.39 new)
 7        Sec. 155.39.  Payment for health care services.   In  all
 8    contracts  for  professional  services  entered  into between
 9    insurers  and  health  care  professionals  or  health   care
10    providers,  no  contract  may  require the insured to pay any
11    co-pay, co-insurance, or deductible.  The  insurer  shall  be
12    responsible  for  payment  of  the  total  in the contract to
13    health care professionals and health care providers.

14        Section 10.  The Workers' Compensation Act is amended  by
15    adding Section 8.5 as follows:

17        Sec.  8.5.  Payment  for  health  care  services.  In all
18    contracts for  professional  services  entered  into  between
19    employers  or  workers' compensation insurers and health care
20    professionals or  health  care  providers,  no  contract  may
21    require  the  injured person to pay any co-pay, co-insurance,
22    or deductible.  The employer or workers' compensation insurer
23    shall be responsible for payment of the total in the contract
24    to health care professionals and health care providers.
