 1        AN ACT concerning mosquito abatement.

 2        Be  it  enacted  by  the People of the State of Illinois,
 3    represented in the General Assembly:

 4        Section  5.  The  Mosquito  Abatement  District  Act   is
 5    amended by changing Section 1 as follows:

 6        (70 ILCS 1005/1) (from Ch. 111 1/2, par. 74)
 7        Sec.  1.  Any contiguous territory having a population of
 8    not less than 300 inhabitants and no part of which is already
 9    included in a mosquito abatement district may be organized as
10    a mosquito abatement district in the following manner:
11        Any 5% of the legal  voters  within  the  limits  of  the
12    proposed mosquito abatement district may petition the circuit
13    court  for  the county in which such territory lies, to order
14    the question whether such territory shall be organized  as  a
15    mosquito abatement district under this Act to be submitted to
16    the  legal  voters of such territory, but every petition must
17    shall be signed by at least 25 legal voters  residing  within
18    the   territory  proposed  to  be  organized  as  a  mosquito
19    abatement district, and in case the such  territory  includes
20    more  than  one  city,  village  or incorporated town, or any
21    portions thereof, or includes one or more cities, villages or
22    incorporated towns, or any portion thereof and territory  not
23    a  part  of  any city, village or incorporated town, then the
24    such petition must be signed by at  least  5%  of  the  legal
25    voters  residing  in each of these the said cities, villages,
26    or incorporated towns, or portions thereof, and by  at  least
27    5%  of  the legal voters residing in the territory not a part
28    of any city, village  or  incorporated  town.  Such  petition
29    addressed   to  the  court  must  shall  contain  a  definite
30    description of the boundaries of the territory proposed to be
31    organized as a mosquito abatement district,  and  must  shall

 1    set forth the name of the proposed district, which name shall
 2    be The.... Mosquito Abatement District.
