 1        AN ACT concerning hospital liens.

 2        Be it enacted by the People of  the  State  of  Illinois,
 3    represented in the General Assembly:

 4        Section  5.  The Hospital Lien Act is amended by changing
 5    Section 3 as follows:

 6        (770 ILCS 35/3) (from Ch. 82, par. 99)
 7        Sec. 3.  Any party to a cause pending in a court  against
 8    whom  a  claim  is  shall  be  therein  asserted  for damages
 9    resulting from such injuries  must  shall,  upon  request  in
10    writing, be permitted to examine the records of such hospital
11    in  reference to such treatment, care and maintenance of such
12    injured person. Any hospital claiming a lien under  this  Act
13    shall, within 10 days of being so requested in writing by any
14    such  party, furnish to such party, or file with the clerk of
15    the court in which the cause is pending, a written  statement
16    of the nature and extent of the injuries sustained by and the
17    treatment  given  to  or furnished for such injured person by
18    such hospital and the  history,  if  any,  as  given  by  the
19    injured  person,  insofar  as  shown  by  the  records of the
20    hospital as  to  the  manner  in  which  such  injuries  were
21    received.
