SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Rupert R. "Pete" Campos of Moline, who passed away on January 15, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Pete Campos was born in Moline to Nieves and Consuelo (Soto) Campos on June 23, 1929 and raised by his mother and stepfather, Raymond Campos; he married Sarah Castel in Davenport, Iowa on November 6, 1954; and

WHEREAS, Pete Campos retired from the Rock Island Arsenal; he previously worked at International Harvester and Colt Industries; and

WHEREAS, Pete Campos was a member of Sacred Heart Church and Catholic Order of Foresters Sacred Heart Court 1691; he was a charter member of VFW Post 8890 in East Moline; and

WHEREAS, Pete Campos was preceded in death by his daughter, Cynthia; his sisters, Esther Villarreal, Sally Perez, and Mary Ellen Campos; and his brothers, Raymond, Ricky, and Rudy Campos; and

WHEREAS, Pete Campos is survived by his wife, Sarah; his sons, Rupert, Steve, Tom (Adrienne), Mark (Carolyn), and David (Melissa) Campos; 17 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and his brother, Jesse Campos; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Rupert R. "Pete" Campos and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Pete Campos as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
