HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to commend Marvin Perzee on his 52 years
4of service as both a member and president of the Iroquois
5County Fair Board; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Together with his wife, Sharon, the Perzees have
7been instrumental in advocating for issues affecting farmers
8and agriculture and have been successful at lobbying for
9legislation in Springfield, such as exempting farm machinery
10from sales taxes; and
 
11    WHEREAS, The Perzees have grown up around agriculture and
12county fairs and are both heavily involved with the Ashkum
13Chargers, their local 4-H club; Marvin has been a volunteer
14with the Chargers for five decades; and
 
15    WHEREAS, At the age of 22, Marvin Perzee became a member on
16the board of the Iroquois County Fair and has served as
17president since 1972; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Marvin Perzee has an unrivaled knowledge of the
19inner workings of the Iroquois County Fair; during his tenure,
20the fairgrounds built multiple new buildings and expanded the
21fair to become one of the premiere county fairs in Illinois;

1Marvin can even name the number of ash trees that are on the
2fairgrounds; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Beyond the Iroquois County Fair, Marvin Perzee
4served as the Iroquois County Republican Chairman, a member of
5the Agricultural Advisory Board under former Congressman Tom
6Ewing, and was honored by Prairie Farmer Magazine as one of
7four Master Farmers in 1999; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Despite stepping down as president, Marvin Perzee
9will continue serving on the board as vice president and will
10be helping out the fair in any way he can; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
12HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
13we commend Marvin Perzee on his service to the Iroquois County
14Fair Board, and we greatly admire his 52 years of steadfast and
15transformational leadership; and be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to Marvin Perzee as an expression of our esteem and
18respect.
