HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to commend Marvin Perzee on his 52 years of service as both a member and president of the Iroquois County Fair Board; and

WHEREAS, Together with his wife, Sharon, the Perzees have been instrumental in advocating for issues affecting farmers and agriculture and have been successful at lobbying for legislation in Springfield, such as exempting farm machinery from sales taxes; and

WHEREAS, The Perzees have grown up around agriculture and county fairs and are both heavily involved with the Ashkum Chargers, their local 4-H club; Marvin has been a volunteer with the Chargers for five decades; and

WHEREAS, At the age of 22, Marvin Perzee became a member on the board of the Iroquois County Fair and has served as president since 1972; and

WHEREAS, Marvin Perzee has an unrivaled knowledge of the inner workings of the Iroquois County Fair; during his tenure, the fairgrounds built multiple new buildings and expanded the fair to become one of the premiere county fairs in Illinois; Marvin can even name the number of ash trees that are on the fairgrounds; and

WHEREAS, Beyond the Iroquois County Fair, Marvin Perzee served as the Iroquois County Republican Chairman, a member of the Agricultural Advisory Board under former Congressman Tom Ewing, and was honored by Prairie Farmer Magazine as one of four Master Farmers in 1999; and

WHEREAS, Despite stepping down as president, Marvin Perzee will continue serving on the board as vice president and will be helping out the fair in any way he can; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we commend Marvin Perzee on his service to the Iroquois County Fair Board, and we greatly admire his 52 years of steadfast and transformational leadership; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Marvin Perzee as an expression of our esteem and respect.
