SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

20 ILCS 301/5-24

Amends the Substance Use Disorder Act. Makes a technical change in a Section concerning opiate prescriptions and educational materials.

AN ACT concerning State government.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Substance Use Disorder Act is amended by changing Section 5-24 as follows:

(20 ILCS 301/5-24)

Sec. 5-24. Opiate prescriptions; educational materials. The The Department shall develop educational materials to educate holders of opiate prescriptions about the dangers of children and teens gaining access to these medications. The materials shall include information regarding the means by which the abuse of opiate prescriptions can lead to the illegal use of heroin. The Department shall also develop a method of distribution for such educational materials.
