Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the School Code. Makes a technical change in a Section concerning school district financial oversight panels.

Senate Floor Amendment No. 1
Deletes reference to:
105 ILCS 5/1B-1
Adds reference to:
105 ILCS 5/27-8.1from Ch. 122, par. 27-8.1

Deletes everything after the enacting clause. Amends the School Code. Requires all children in kindergarten and the second and sixth grades of any public, private, or parochial school to have a dental examination. Provides that if a child in the second or sixth grade fails to present proof of having been examined by a dentist by May 15th of the school year, the school may hold the child's report card until one of the following occurs: (i) the child presents proof of a completed dental examination or (ii) the child presents proof that a dental examination will take place within 60 days after May 15th. Requires the Department of Public Health to establish, by rule, a waiver for children who show an undue burden or a total lack of access to a dentist. Makes related changes. Effective July 1, 2005.

Senate Floor Amendment No. 2
Provides that the dental examination information reported to the State Board of Education must be reported by June 30 (instead of June 1).

Senate Floor Amendment No. 3
Provides that the waiver that the Department of Public Health is required to establish is for children who show a lack of access to a dentist (instead of a total lack of access to a dentist).
