Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides that a fourth violation of provisions prohibiting driving while under the influence of alcohol, other drugs, intoxicating compound or compounds or any combination thereof that results in the death of another person is a Class 1 felony.

House Committee Amendment No. 1
Adds reference to:
625 ILCS 5/11-501from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 11-501
730 ILCS 5/3-6-3from Ch. 38, par. 1003-6-3

Replaces everything after the enacting clause with provisions similar to the original bill, but makes the following changes: (1) provides that a third or subsequent (instead of a fourth) violation of provisions prohibiting driving while under the influence of alcohol, other drugs, intoxicating compound or compounds or any combination thereof that results in the death of another person is a Class X (instead of a Class 1) felony; (2) provides that if the violation resulted in the deaths of 2 or more persons, the defendant shall be sentenced to a term of imprisonment of not less than 10 years and not more than 45 years; and (3) amends the Unified Code of Corrections to provide that a defendant shall receive no good conduct credit and shall serve the entire sentence imposed by the court.

House Floor Amendment No. 2
Provides that a prisoner serving time for a third or subsequent violation that results in the death of another is eligible for no more than 4.5 days of good conduct credit for each month of his or her sentence (instead of being ineligible for any good conduct credit).
