Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides that Secretary of State driver facilities shall no longer be temporary places of voter registration, but rather permanent places of acceptance of voter registration applications. Deletes provisions governing the Secretary's powers and duties relating to voter registration and adds provisions governing the Secretary's powers and duties relating to acceptance of voter registration applications.

Replaces everything after the enacting clause. Reinserts the provisions of the engrossed bill. Amends the Election Code to remove provisions of the Code requiring the election authority to appoint as deputy registrars certain employees of the Secretary of State located at driver's license examination stations. Effective immediately.

Governor Amendatory Veto Message
Recommends that language be added that: provides procedures for the creation of a local government initiative petition and referendum for establishing the Office of Veterans’ Advocate within the local government; defines Veterans’ Advocate; provides procedures concerning the appointment and compensation of Veterans’ Advocates.
