Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Illinois Municipal Code. Provides that the corporate authorities of a municipality may fix, charge, and collect fees not exceeding the reasonable cost of the service for all emergency services rendered by the municipality against persons, businesses, and other entities who are not residents of the municipality. Specifies that the fee shall be computed at a rate not to exceed $250 per hour per vehicle and not to exceed $70 per hour per firefighter responding to a call for emergency assistance. Provides that those amounts shall be adjusted annually to reflect changes in the Consumer Price Index during the previous 12-month period. Effective immediately.

Senate Committee Amendment No. 1
Further amends the Illinois Municipal Code. Provides that the corporate authorities of a municipality may fix, charge, and collect fees not exceeding the reasonable cost of the service for all emergency "fire and rescue" services rendered by the municipality against persons, businesses, and other entities who are not residents of the municipality. Removes provisions that provide for the annual adjustment of the amount of the fee to reflect changes in the Consumer Price Index.

Senate Floor Amendment No. 2
Further amends the Illinois Municipal Code. Provides that the fee for emergency services shall be computed at a rate not to exceed $250 per hour (now, a rate not to exceed $250 per hour per vehicle and not to exceed $70 per hour per firefighter responding to a call for emergency assistance).
