Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Boat Registration and Safety Act. Provides that, when an authorized emergency watercraft approaches, or when approaching a stationary authorized emergency watercraft, the operator of another watercraft shall follow procedures similar to those the Illinois Vehicle Code requires of drivers in similar situations involving authorized emergency vehicles. Provides that the penalties for watercraft operators who fail to follow the required procedures are similar to those that apply to drivers under the Illinois Vehicle Code.

House Committee Amendment No. 1
Provides that, if a violation of the provision results in great bodily harm or permanent disability or disfigurement to, or the death of, another person, the watercraft operator's watercraft operating privileges (rather than his or her driving privileges) shall be suspended for 2 years.
