Synopsis As Introduced
Creates the Right to Breastfeed Act. Contains only a short title provision.

Senate Floor Amendment No. 2
Adds reference to:
215 ILCS 5/356s

Deletes everything after the enacting clause. Creates the Right to Breastfeed Act. Provides that a mother may breastfeed her baby in any location, public or private, where the mother is otherwise authorized to be, irrespective of whether the nipple of the mother's breast is uncovered during or incidental to the breastfeeding. Provides that a mother considering whether to breastfeed her baby in a place of worship shall comport her behavior with the norms appropriate in that place of worship. Provides a private right of action for a woman who has been denied the right to breastfeed in a public or private location. Amends the Illinois Insurance Code. Provides that an individual or group policy of accident and health insurance that provides maternity coverage shall provide coverage for a certified lactation consultant pursuant to a physician's order. Adds an immediate effective date.
