Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Medical Patient Rights Act. Adds pharmaceutical companies to the list of persons and entities that are prohibited from disclosing the nature or details of services provided to patients. Prohibits a pharmaceutical company from requiring that a patient authorize disclosure to receive medications. Effective immediately.

 Fiscal Note (Department of Central Management Services)
 The Department of Central Management Services anticipates no fiscal impact from HB 343.

House Committee Amendment No. 1
Makes changes in the definition of "pharmaceutical company".

House Committee Amendment No. 2
Provides that a patient may authorize the disclosure of information in specified cases and that information may be disclosed under specified circumstances.

House Floor Amendment No. 3
Lists types of programs for which a patient may authorize the disclosure of information. Provides that information may be disclosed or the compilation of medical (rather than Medicaid) records used for specified studies.
