Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code and the Code of Criminal Procedure of 1963. Deletes language providing that law enforcement officers may not stop or search any vehicle solely on the basis of the failure of the occupants to wear seat belts. Provides that a law enforcement officer may not search or inspect a motor vehicle, its contents, the driver, or a passenger solely because the driver or a passenger is not wearing a seat safety belt.

Adds an immediate effective date.
