Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the State Universities Article of the Illinois Pension Code. Allows a surviving spouse without dependents to begin receiving survivor's benefits before attaining age 50. Effective immediately.

 Pension Note (Pension Laws Commission)
 According to the System's actuary, HB 1478 would increase the accrued liability of SURS by $4.7 million. The resulting increase in annual cost has not been calculated but is estimated by SURS to be very minor.
