Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois. Provides that, of the amounts appropriated annually (now, annually to the Department) for expenditure for grants to local tourism and convention bureaus beginning July 1, 2011, 18% shall be used for grants to convention and tourism bureaus in cities with a population greater than 500,000. Effective immediately.

Adds reference to:
70 ILCS 210/5.6

Replaces everything after the enacting clause. Amends the Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority Act. In a Section that requires the Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority to enter into a marketing agreement with a not-for-profit organization, changes the composition of the board of the organization to 35 members, rather than 25 members. Sets forth the required qualifications of the members of the board. Authorizes City of Chicago aldermen and other officials to serve as ex officio members. Effective immediately.
