Synopsis As Introduced
Creates the Bioterrorism Preparedness Act. Contains only a short title provision.

Deletes everything. Amends the Department of Public Health Act. Allows the Department to order a person or group of persons to be quarantined or isolated or to order a place to be closed and made off limits to the public on an immediate basis without prior consent or court order if, in the judgment of the Department, immediate action is required to protect the public health until the condition can be corrected or the danger to the public health eliminated or reduced. Requires the Department to obtain certain consents within 48 hours, or within a reasonable time under certain circumstances, after issuing an order isolation, quarantine, or closure without prior consent or court order. Contains provisions concerning the burden of proof that the Department must demonstrate in order to obtain a court order. Effective immediately.
