Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Cannabis Control Act. Provides that a person who knowingly manufactures, delivers, or possesses with intent to deliver, or manufacture more than 10,000 grams of any substance containing cannabis is guilty of a Class X felony for which the person shall be sentenced to a term of imprisonment of not less than 9 years and not more than 40 years (rather than a Class X felony penalty).

House Committee Amendment No. 1
Increases from more than 10,000 grams to more than 40,000 grams the quantity of cannabis that must be manufactured or delivered or possessed with the intent to deliver or manufacture before the 9 year to 40 year sentence is imposed. Provides that a fine not to exceed $300,000 may be imposed for the manufacture or delivery or possession with the intent to deliver or manufacture this quantity of cannabis.
