Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Barber, Cosmetology, Esthetics, Hair Braiding, and Nail Technology Act of 1985. Provides a definition for the term "school" used within the Act. Effective immediately.

Further amends the Barber, Cosmetology, Esthetics, Hair Braiding, and Nail Technology Act of 1985. Provides that a person is qualified to receive a license as a barber if that person has graduated from a school of barbering or school of cosmetology approved by the Department. Provides that a person is qualified to receive a license as a barber teacher if that person has a current license as a barber or cosmetologist and has graduated from a barber school or school of cosmetology and has met certain training requirements. Provides that a person is qualified to receive a license as a barber clinic teacher if he or she has passed an examination authorized by the Department to determine eligibility to receive a license as a barber or cosmetology teacher. Provides that a school of cosmetology may offer a degree in barbering provided that the school of cosmetology complies with certain provisions of the Act and utilizes barber teachers properly licensed. Provides that the provisions of the Article concerning barber schools are applicable only to barber or cosmetology schools.
