105 ILCS 5/34-18.37 new


Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Chicago School District Article of the School Code. Provides that if a school fails to meet adequate yearly progress criteria for 2 consecutive school years and is located in a violence-prone area, as determined by the Chicago Police Department, then the Chicago Board of Education shall require that (1) students receive at least 10 to 15 minutes of physical activity a day, (2) the school have at least one full-time social worker on-site, and (3) after-school physical activity and academic programs be available for students.

House Floor Amendment No. 1
Provides that the requirements are only for grades one through 8.

Deletes everything after the enacting clause. Amends the School Code to add a Section concerning requirements for certain schools in violence-prone areas. Contains only a caption.

Makes provisions of the Code concerning the Common School Fund applicable to the Department of Juvenile Justice School District. Includes the Department of Juvenile Justice School District in provisions concerning specified grants. Effective immediately.
