Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Children and Family Services Act. Requires the Department of Children and Family Services to extend foster care services to foster youth up to the age of 21 if a youth meets one of the following criteria: (1) the youth is completing secondary education or a program leading to an equivalent credential; (2) the youth is enrolled in an institution that provides postsecondary or vocational education; (3) the youth is participating in a program or activity designed to promote employment or remove barriers to employment; (4) the youth is employed for at least 80 hours per month; or (5) the youth is incapable of doing any part of the activities described in items (1) through (4) due to a medical condition. Provides that an assertion of incapacity must be supported by regularly updated information in the youth's case plan. Grants the Department rulemaking authority to implement the provision.
