Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Illinois Health Finance Reform Act. Removes a provision prohibiting the inclusion of a patient's name, address, or Social Security number in patient claims and encounter data submitted by hospitals and ambulatory surgical treatment centers.

Senate Committee Amendment No. 1
Restores language providing that claims and encounter data submitted to hospitals and ambulatory surgical treatment centers shall not include a patient's Social Security number. Adds language providing that the Department of Public Health may require, by rule, the inclusion of a unique patient identifier that may be based upon the last four digits of the patient's Social Security number and that the Department shall promulgate regulations to protect the patient's rights of confidentiality and privacy.
