Synopsis As Introduced
Encourages and supports action by the 111th Congress of the United States to enact legislation to update Surface Transportation Board (STB) standards and criteria for approval of railroad merger applications to equally weigh the public interest of residents and communities with the benefits to commerce.

House Floor Amendment No. 2
Replaces everything after the heading. Encourages and supports action by the 111th Congress to enact legislation to review the Surface Transportation Board to ensure adequate federal support to compensate impacted local communities for infrastructure upgrades due to shifts in track usage concerning the purchase of Elgin, Joliet, and Eastern rail line by Canadian National approved December 24, 2008, by the Surface Transportation Board.
