Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Illinois Marriage and Dissolution of Marriage Act to replace provisions concerning child custody and visitation, with changes that include changing the terms "custody" and "visitation" to "parental responsibilities" and "parenting time", respectively. Also amends the Intergovernmental Missing Child Recovery Act of 1984, the Code of Criminal Procedure of 1963, the Illinois Parentage Act of 1984, the Illinois Domestic Violence Act of 1986, and the Probate Act of 1975 to make conforming changes in references to those terms and to change references to the Sections of the Illinois Marriage and Dissolution of Marriage Act that are repealed and replaced by the bill. Requires the Illinois Supreme Court to approve 3 hours of training for certain professionals, evaluators, investigators, and guardians ad litem serving in connection with proceedings to allocate parental responsibilities. Effective January 1, 2007.
