Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District Act. In provisions concerning promotional examinations, authorizes the director of a sanitary district to require candidates to separately pass the efficiency and seniority parts of a promotional examination. Provides that if the director requires candidates to separately pass the efficiency and seniority parts of a promotional examination, then any candidate who does not pass the efficiency and seniority parts of the examination shall fail the entire examination. In provisions concerning certain appointments, adds that the director shall certify the addresses of the candidates from succeeding categories in the order of excellence of the categories only until 5 names are provided to the appointing officer. Effective immediately.

Replaces everything after the enacting clause. Amends the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District Act. In provisions concerning the register of eligibles for positions in the classified service of a sanitary district, provides that the director of human resources for the sanitary district may substitute categories designated as A, B, and C (instead of excellent, well qualified, and qualified) for numerical ratings. Authorizes the director of human resources for the sanitary district to require candidates to separately pass the efficiency and seniority parts of a promotional examination. Provides that if the director of human resources for the sanitary district requires candidates to separately pass the efficiency and seniority parts of a promotional examination, then any candidate who does not pass the efficiency and seniority parts of the examination shall fail the entire examination. Provides that the director of human resources for the sanitary district shall certify to the executive director of the sanitary district from the register of eligibles for a position with the sanitary district the names (i) of 5 candidates standing highest on the list or (ii) of the candidates within the A category upon the register of eligibles if the register is by categories designated as A, B, and C, except that any certification shall consist of 5 names. Sets forth the certification procedure if fewer than 5 candidates are in the A category or A and B categories combined. Contains provisions concerning the making and terminating of probationary appointments. Effective immediately.
