Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Property Tax Code with respect to tax sale procedures. Provides that property may be forfeited to the State of Illinois only if offered at public sale and not sold for want of bidders, with certain exceptions (now, every property offered at public sale, and not sold for want of bidders shall, with certain exceptions, be forfeited to the State of Illinois).

 Fiscal Note (Department of Revenue)
 House Bill 3985 will have no fiscal impact on the Department of Revenue.

Senate Committee Amendment No. 1
Adds reference to:
35 ILCS 200/22-15

Further amends the Property Tax Code. Provides that the notice of expiration of the period of redemption that is required to be given by the purchaser or his or her assignee for property that is sold at a tax sale may be given, in any county except Cook County, by causing the notice to be served by a process server (now, only a sheriff may serve notice in all counties).
