Synopsis As Introduced
Urges the General Assembly to undertake a comprehensive review of all state statutes that govern record keeping in the juvenile justice system with a view to revise these statutes, as needed, to achieve the stated purposes of the Juvenile Court Act of 1987 of enhancing community safety, insuring that our youth are accountable for the harm they have caused, and providing competency development of our youth so that they become productive citizens. Also, provides that the General Assembly should examine ways to make the expungement process more automated, accessible, and available to those youth who are entitled to have their records expunged.
