Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Chicago Municipal Article of the Illinois Pension Code. Provides that if a member (1) was married for at least one year at the time of termination of service, (2) subsequently became widowed, (3) was subsequently remarried, and (4) has not received a refund under Section 8-169, then that member's widow shall be entitled to a widow's annuity if the widow was married to the member for at least the last 3 years prior to the member's death. Amends the State Mandates Act to require implementation without reimbursement. Effective immediately.

 Pension Note (Pension Laws Commission)
The fiscal impact of HB 2986 cannot be determined, as the additional number of widows who would qualify for a widow's annuity is unknown. The number of additional qualifying widows is expected to be small, therefore the fiscal impact is expected to be minor.
