Synopsis As Introduced Amends the Department of Juvenile Justice Law of the Unified Code of Corrections. Provides that subject to appropriation, if a county detention center holds in their custody a juvenile under a warrant issued by the Department of Juvenile Justice, the Department shall reimburse the local county detention facility the normal daily rate for the local detention center for each day the juvenile is held. Effective immediately.
House Committee Amendment No. 1 Replaces everything after the enacting clause. Amends the Department of Juvenile Justice Law of the Unified Code of Corrections. Provides that if a county detention facility holds in their custody a juvenile under a warrant for violation of aftercare release issued by the Department of Juvenile Justice, the Department shall take custody of the minor within 48 hours of the minor's apprehension, excluding weekends and holidays. Provides that the Department shall report annually to the Supreme Court the number of juveniles who have violated conditions of aftercare release and are issued a violation warrant, the number of juveniles returned to custody, the number juveniles held in a county detention facility on a warrant from the Department, and the number of days the juvenile is held in county custody before being transferred to the Department.
