Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Property Tax Code. Provides that the township or multi-township assessors in counties with 500,000 or more but no more than 700,000 inhabitants shall, on or before October 15 of the assessment year, return the assessment books or workbooks to the supervisor of assessments (now, counties with less than 600,000 inhabitants must return the books on or before April 15). Effective January 1, 2005.

Senate Floor Amendment No. 2
Deletes everything after the enacting clause. Reinserts the provisions of the bill as introduced but limits the new October 15 date for the return of assessment books to the supervisor of assessments to township or multi-township assessors in counties with 600,000 or more (500,000 or more in bill as introduced) but no more than 700,000 inhabitants, based on the 2000 federal decennial census (current law, counties with less than 600,000 inhabitants must return the books on or before April 15). Effective January 1, 2005.
