Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the State Housing Act. Makes a technical change in a Section concerning the short title.

Replaces the title and everything after the enacting clause. Amends the Code of Civil Procedure. Provides that a $500 Mortgage Foreclosure Prevention Fee shall be collected from the proceeds resulting from a sale of real estate in a foreclosure action and shall be deposited into the Mortgage Foreclosure Prevention Fund. Provides that amounts in the Fund may be expended only for the purpose of funding specified eligible foreclosure mitigation activities, which includes mortgage foreclosure housing counseling, mortgage foreclosure legal services, community-based outreach, and administration of comprehensive court-sponsored foreclosure mediation programs. Sets forth the eligible entities and how the funds shall be allocated to the counties. Amends the State Finance Act to include the Fund as a special fund. Effective immediately.
