Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Unified Code of Corrections. Requires the court to impose a sentence of natural life imprisonment if the defendant is convicted of first degree murder and has previously been convicted of domestic battery or aggravated domestic battery committed against the murdered individual or has previously been convicted of violation of an order of protection in which the murdered individual was the protected person.

House Floor Amendment No. 1
Deletes reference to:
730 ILCS 5/5-8-1
Adds reference to:
730 ILCS 5/5-5-3.2from Ch. 38, par. 1005-5-3.2

Deletes all. Amends the Unified Code of Corrections. Provides that the court may impose an extended term sentence upon an offender who has been convicted of first degree murder and the offender has previously been convicted of domestic battery or aggravated domestic battery committed against the murdered individual or has previously been convicted of violation of an order of protection in which the murdered individual was the protected person.
