Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Rights of Crime Victims and Witnesses Act and the Open Parole Hearings Act. Requires the Prisoner Review Board to establish a toll-free number that may be accessed by the victim of a violent crime to present information for consideration by the Board at the parole hearing or at a proceeding on determining conditions of mandatory supervised release or at a hearing on revocation of mandatory supervised release of a person sentenced to a determinate sentence who committed the crime against the victim. Effective immediately.

 Fiscal Note (Prisoner Review Board)
The Prisoner Review Board expects substantial calls on the toll-free line. The Board expects that the estimated annual cost to maintain the line to be $18,738. The board also feels that the Prisoner Review Board would require an additional person to memorialize the victims considerations when considering the conditions of parole or mandatory supervised release and making sure the victims concerns were given to the Board prior to setting the conditions of Parole or mandatory supervised release. The Board estimates that the annual cost to have one person handle the extra phone calls to be $33, 008. The combined cost of the additional person and the line charges is expected to be $51, 746.
