SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Stephen R. Ellsworth of Edwardsville, who
4passed away on February 27, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Stephen Ellsworth was born in Vandalia to Ralph
6and Twila (Cunningham) Ellsworth on February 3, 1943; he
7attended Highland High School for 3 years and graduated from
8Edwardsville High School in 1961; he married Rae M. Yehling at
9the LeClaire Christian Church in Edwardsville on February 22,
101964; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Stephen Ellsworth owned and operated the Texaco
12Service Station on the corner of Buchanan and East Vandalia
13Streets in Edwardsville; he began a 48-year career with the
14State Farm Insurance Company in 1967, sharing an office with
15his father for many years; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Stephen Ellsworth served as Mayor of the City of
17Edwardsville from 1977 to 1981; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Stephen Ellsworth was a member and past President
19of the Board of the First Christian Church in Edwardsville; he
20served on the City of Edwardsville Zoning Board and the Public
21Safety Facilities Committee; he served as President of the

1Edwardsville Jaycees of which he was a Jaycee Senator, as Board
2Member of the Boy Scouts of America, as past Chairman of the
3Greater Edwardsville Area Community Foundation, and as past
4President of the Edwardsville Rotary Club; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Stephen Ellsworth was preceded in death by his
6parents; his brothers-in-law, Gary Baker and Ron Yehling; and
7his nephews, Scott Baker and Carter Albrecht; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Stephen Ellsworth is survived by his wife of 52
9years, Rae; his daughter, Kris Ellsworth and husband, John
10Dickshot; his son, Kurt Ellsworth and wife, Janel; his
11grandchildren, Cameron, Jennie, Lily, and Cooper; his three
12sisters, Joan Baker, Judy Albrecht and husband, Ken, and Renee
13Allen and husband, Steve; and his nieces and nephews, Jill
14Findley and husband, Eric, Chelsea Pershall and husband, JR,
15Tad Allen and wife, Kaci, Samantha Allen, Rod Yehling, and
16Pamela Albrecht and husband, Richard; therefore, be it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
18ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
19Stephen R. Ellsworth, and extend our sincere condolences to his
20family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
21further
