SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Edward F. Gilligan, Sr. of Harvard, who
4passed away on February 6, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Edward Gilligan, Sr. was born on November 14, 1937
6in Chicago; his parents were Edward F. and Anna Mae (nee
7Malloy) Gilligan; he married Ellen D. Anderson on April 4, 1970
8in Chicago; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Edward Gilligan, Sr. served his country as a
10member of the United States Army Corps of Engineers for 10
11years; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Edward Gilligan, Sr. was a graduate of Coyne
13Electrical School; he was employed as a union electrician with
14International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 117 for
15over 40 years; during his career as an electrician, he worked
16on the Byron Nuclear Plant, Motorola in Harvard, and the
17Huntley Outlet Mall; he also worked as a Century 21 Real Estate
18salesperson; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Edward Gilligan, Sr. used his skills as an
20electrician, helping others through PADS and through many
21Catholic churches in McHenry County and Necedah, Wisconsin; he

1also gave much support to the local food pantry; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Edward Gilligan, Sr. was Ham Radio Operator KB9FIL
3and a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Edward Gilligan, Sr. enjoyed traveling and
5visited many places, including Ireland, various places in the
6United States, and the Caribbean; he also loved spending time
7with his family and union friends, raising animals, working on
8cars, and volunteer work; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Edward Gilligan, Sr. was preceded in death by his
10parents; his wife; and a brother-in-law, Ray Ostrowski, Sr.;
11and
 
12    WHEREAS, Edward Gilligan, Sr. is survived by 4 children,
13Edward F. (LeeAnn) Gilligan, III, Mary Gilligan, MaryAnn
14(Domingo) Parada, and Michael P. (Erin) Gilligan; 3
15grandchildren, Darrin Jacob, Grace Marie, and Prestan Quinn
16Gilligan; 2 sisters, Josephine Ostrowski and Rosalie Gilligan;
17and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
19ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
20family and friends, mourn the passing of Edward F. Gilligan,
21Sr.; and be it further
