SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
5 ILCS 420/Art. 3B heading new
5 ILCS 420/3B-5 new
5 ILCS 420/3B-10 new

    Amends the Illinois Governmental Ethics Act. Provides that no board member may receive more than one per diem, stipend, or other similar form of compensation for meetings that are held on consecutive days unless: (i) each meeting is more than 4 hours long, or (ii) in the case of an emergency. Defines "board" to include a board, commission, authority, task force, or other similar body to which one or more members are appointed by the Governor.

1    AN ACT concerning government.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Illinois Governmental Ethics Act is amended
5by adding Article 3B as follows:

ARTICLE 3B. BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS

9    Sec. 3B-5. Definition. As used in this Article:
10    "Board" includes a board, commission, authority, task
11force, or other similar body to which one or more members are
12appointed by the Governor.
 
13    (5 ILCS 420/3B-10 new)
14    Sec. 3B-10. Per diem and meetings. Notwithstanding any
15other provision of law, no board member may receive more than
16one per diem, stipend, or other similar form of compensation
17for meetings that are held on consecutive days unless: (i) each
18meeting is more than 4 hours long, or (ii) in the case of an
19emergency.
