AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 572

2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 572 by replacing
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:
 
4    "Section 5. The Department of Natural Resources Act is
5amended by changing Sections 20-5 and 20-15 as follows:
 
6    (20 ILCS 801/20-5)
7    Sec. 20-5. State Museum. The State shall operate an
8Illinois State Museum in Springfield and at branch sites
9determined by the Department of Natural Resources in
10collaboration with local units of government and other public
11and private entities. The Illinois State Museum and all branch
12sites shall be open to the public. The Illinois State Museum
13shall operate a research and collections center to research,
14preserve, and maintain access to the extensive Illinois State
15Museum collections. The Department of Natural Resources shall
16have within it the office of the Illinois State Museum. The

1Board of the Illinois State Museum is retained as the governing
2board for the State Museum. The Department of Natural Resources
3and the Board of the Illinois State Museum shall solicit the
4assistance of the Illinois State Museum Society to fundraise
5non-State resources for the museum and to provide operational
6assistance to the museum.

9    Sec. 20-15. Entrance fee. The Department may set, by the
10Director, by administrative rule an entrance fee for visitors
11to the Illinois State Museum. A different fee may be charged
12for different classes of visitors. The fee assessed by this
13Section shall be deposited into the Illinois State Museum Fund
14for the Department to use to support the Illinois State Museum.
15The monies deposited into the Illinois State Museum Fund under
16this Section shall not be subject to administrative charges or
17chargebacks unless otherwise authorized by this Act.

19    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
20becoming law.".
