HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Terry Boers on the 
4occasion of his retirement after 25 years of talking sports on 
5weekday afternoons on 670 The Score in Chicago; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Terry Boers is the co-host of "The Boers and 
7Bernstein Show" from 1 to 6 p.m. on weekday afternoons on The 
8Score; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Terry Boers began his career as sports editor for 
10the Sun Journal Newspapers in Lansing; from 1973 to 1978, he 
11was assistant sports editor for Star Publications; he then 
12worked as a
copy editor for the Detroit Free Press from 1978 to 
131980; he left Detroit in 1980 to join the Chicago Sun-Times 
14sports staff, where he covered the Chicago Bulls from 1982 to 
151985, and
was a featured columnist from 1988 to 1990; he then 
16covered a variety of sports until August of 1992 when he joined 
17The Score; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, Terry Boers has won several awards for outstanding 
19journalistic coverage, including the Peter Lisagor Award, 
20considered
among Chicago print journalists as the local 
21equivalent to the Pulitzer Prize; he has also won Associated 
22Press awards for column and feature
writing; and

1    WHEREAS, Terry Boers is a Northern Illinois University 
2alum; he and his wife have four sons; therefore, be it
  
 
  
3    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
4NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
5congratulate Terry Boers on his retirement after 25 years of 
6talking sports on weekday afternoons on 670 The Score, and we 
7wish him the best in all his future endeavors; and be it 
8further
  
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
10presented to Terry Boers as an expression of our esteem and 
11respect.
