HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Cheryl
4Lynn Williams, who passed away at the age of 56; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Cheryl Williams was born in November of 1959; her
6parents were Lonnie Williams and Pamela Garth-Williams; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Cheryl Williams graduated from Orr High School in
81977 in Chicago before dedicating herself to full-time
9ministry; she served as the Executive Assistant to Pastor
10Clarence Stowers, the Senior Pastor of Mars Hill Baptist Church
11of Chicago; she was a founding member of the Melodies of Praise
12Dance Ministry at Mars Hill and organized the first dance
13ministry for children, Junior Melodies of Praise; she also
14coached 40 people through stepping lessons and used her
15creative talents in graphic design, marketing, and branding to
16help streamline and support some of the most memorable
17celebrations and events at the church; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Cheryl Williams worked with 1st District
19Commissioner, Earlean Collins of the Cook County Board of
20Commissioners, on many community endeavors; she also worked
21with then-State Representative, Karen Yarbrough, at the
22Illinois Legislative Scholarship Committee; and

1    WHEREAS, Cheryl Williams enjoyed dancing, listening to
2music, and spending time with her family; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Cheryl Williams was preceded in death by her
4mother; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Cheryl Williams is survived by her daughters,
6Tikisha and Tyrina; her grandson, Kaden; her father; her niece
7and nephews, Darius, Tanesha, and Howard Jr.; her siblings,
8Lisa, Denise, Marva, Denise, and Jerry; and many aunts, uncles,
9other family members, and friends; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
11NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
12we, along with her family and friends, mourn the passing of
13Cheryl Williams; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Cheryl Lynn Williams as an
16expression of our sympathy.
