HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Michael A. Holub on the
4occasion of his retirement as the Chief of Police of the
5Village of La Grange in 2015; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Chief Holub began his 40-year career in law
7enforcement in 1974, when he joined the Stickney Police
8Department; he was promoted to Sergeant in 1981, to Patrol
9Shift Commander in 1987, and to Deputy Chief of Police in 1988;
10later in 1988, he became Chief of Police of the Stickney Police
11Department; he became Chief of Police of the Palos Park Police
12Department in 1995 and of the River Forest Police Department in
131998; in 2003, he became Chief of Police of the La Grange
14Police Department; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Throughout his career, Chief Holub has received
16numerous awards and has been involved with numerous
17organizations; he received the Excellence in Law Enforcement
18Award in 2013 from the Special Agents Association and the Law
19Enforcement Award from the Illinois State Bar Association in
202012; in 2010, the American Legion Department of Illinois named
21him its Law Enforcement Officer of the Year, and he was a
22member of its Disaster Relief Committee; he received the La
23Grange Area NAACP's Award of Appreciation in 2006 and the La

1Grange Business Association's Public Servant Award in 2003; he
2was a past member of Triton College's Criminal Justice
3Department's Adjunct Faculty, where he was named Outstanding
4Adjunct Faculty Member in 2002; he is a member of the FBI
5National Academy Associates, where he was named the Northern
6Illinois Division Member of the Year in 2002 and served as
7President of the Illinois Chapter in 2007; he served as the
8Public Affairs Director and Military Liaison for the United
9States Department of Defense's Employer Support for the Guard
10and Reserve (ESGR) for Illinois, for which he was selected as
11National ESGR Public Affairs Volunteer of the Year in 2012 and
12received the Illinois ESGR Seven Seals Award twice, the
13President's Volunteer Service Award 8 times, the Department of
14Defense Patriot Award 3 times, and the Department of Defense
15Above and Beyond Award in January of 2010; he served as a
16Personnel Committee member for the Northeast Multi-Regional
17Police Training Board and as Parliamentarian for the West
18Suburban Chiefs of Police Association, where he was also a past
19President and life member; he served as past Chairman of the
20Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police's Police Chiefs
21Certification Committee and as past Chair of its Executive
22Search Committee; he was past President of the 5th District
23Police Chiefs Association; he served in the United States
24Army's Old Guard, where was presented with the Meritorious Unit
25Citation; he was a life member and a member of the board of
26directors of The Old Guard Association; he received the United

1States Army's National Defense Service Medal; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Chief Holub has authored articles in the FBI's
3National Academy Associate magazine and in Command Magazine;
4and
 
5    WHEREAS, Chief Holub received his Associate of Arts from
6Morton College in 1979; he attended the FBI Executive
7Development Course for Police Chiefs in 1988 and the FBI
8National Academy in 1993; he received his Bachelor of Arts in
9Criminal and Social Justice from Lewis University in 1995; he
10attended the FBI Midwest Law Enforcement Executive Development
11Seminar in 1997; he received his Master of Arts in Law
12Enforcement and Justice Administration from Western Illinois
13University in 1997; he became a certified police chief in 2001
14(recertified in 2006 and 2011) and attended the Western
15Illinois University Fire Protection Services Program from 2002
16to 2003; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Chief Holub will be honored at a retirement dinner
18on January 24, 2015 at Crystal Sky Banquets in McCook;
19therefore, be it
 
20    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
21NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
22congratulate Michael A. Holub on his retirement as the Chief of

1Police of the Village of La Grange, and we wish him the best in
2all his future endeavors; and be it further
 
3    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
4presented to Chief Holub as an expression of our esteem and
5respect.
