HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Bellwood Mayor Frank A.
4Pasquale on the occasion of his retirement after over 40 years
5of public service; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Mayor Pasquale served as a Village Trustee for six
7years, a Memorial Park District Commissioner for 20 years, and
8as Mayor for 15 years; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Before becoming an elected official, Mayor
10Pasquale served his community as an educator, and he never lost
11his passion of learning and teaching; and
 
12    WHEREAS, As an elected official, Mayor Pasquale earned a
13reputation for being an exemplary and tenacious leader; and
 
14    WHEREAS, During his time in office, Mayor Pasquale served
15as the Chairman of the Addison Creek Restoration Commission;
16charged with finding a solution for the flooding problem along
17Addison Creek, the Commission lobbied the Metropolitan Water
18Reclamation District of Greater Chicago to dedicate $150
19million to address the flooding issue; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Mayor Pasquale was instrumental in building an

1overpass that alleviated the traffic delays caused by the Union
2Pacific railroad tracks on the boarder between Bellwood and
3Melrose Park; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
5NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE
6SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that we designate the 25th Avenue
7overpass in Bellwood as the "Mayor Frank A. Pasquale Overpass";
8and be it further
 
9    RESOLVED, That the Illinois Department of Transportation
10is requested to erect at suitable locations, consistent with
11State and federal regulations, appropriate plaques or signs
12giving notice of the name of "Mayor Frank A. Pasquale
13Overpass"; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
15presented to the Secretary of the Illinois Department of
16Transportation and Mayor Pasquale.
