SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Albert Davis Cheeks of Chicago, who
4passed away on November 9, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Albert Cheeks was born on April 9, 1930 to Alice
6(nee Hunter) and Sandy Cheeks; he was one of 9 children; he
7married Dovie Leon Conway in 1954 in Canton, Mississippi; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Albert Cheeks worked at International Harvest,
9Inc. as a Master Mechanic for 35 years, retiring in 1992; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Albert Cheeks enjoyed walking, bowling, cooking,
11planting vegetables, deer hunting with his nephews, watching
12Wheel of Fortune with his wife, and secretly watching soap
13operas; he was an avid sports fan, especially of the Chicago
14Bears; he was a lifelong member of Fellowship Missionary
15Baptist Church in Chicago; he volunteered much of his time with
16the Greater Chicago Food Depository to help the less fortunate;
17and
 
18    WHEREAS, Albert Cheeks was preceded in death by his
19parents; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Albert Cheeks is survived by his wife, Dovie; his

1children, Delois Cheeks Graham, Albert Cheeks, Jr., Ronald
2Stephen Cheeks, Darnell Cheeks, Alice Richell Cheeks-Zutant,
3and Wardene Stewart; his grandchildren; his
4great-grandchildren; his great-great-grandchildren; and a host
5of nieces and nephews who affectionately called him "Uncle
6A.D."; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Albert Davis Cheeks, and extend our sincere condolences to his
10family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Albert Cheeks as an expression of
14our deepest sympathy.
