SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Carole A. Michels of rural Elburn, who
4passed away on August 16, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Carole Michels was born on June 29, 1941 in Aurora
6to Roy and Gertrude (nee Kroeger) Brown; she attended Oak Park
7Elementary School and East Aurora Junior High School, and
8graduated from East Aurora High School in 1959 in its first
9graduating class; she married Jim Michels on December 1, 1962
10at St. Therese of Jesus Catholic Church in Aurora; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Carole Michels began her career as a secretary
12with IBM in Aurora; she and her husband then spent time in
13Oklahoma and Minnesota before returning to Illinois and
14settling in their home in Blackberry Township in 1969; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Carole Michels concentrated on raising her
16children and looking after her family before resuming her
17secretarial career in 1974 when she joined the newly formed
18consulting engineering firm, Engineering Enterprises in
19Elburn; she became active in the Elburn Business Council, and
20in 1982, she became a realtor with Leuer Realty where she was a
21"top producer" for most of her 30 year career; she was a member
22and President of the Greater Aurora Association of Realtors and

1a member of the Fox Valley Board of Realtors; she held several
2leadership positions with both boards; she was also a charter
3member of the Kane County Tourism Association and a member of
4the Kaneland Foundation and the Waubonsee Community College
5Foundation; she was a precinct committee person for Blackberry
6Township, Kane County for many years; she was one of the 7
7founders of Kaneland Community Bank, now American Bank and
8Trust in Elburn; she was also the Corporate Secretary Emeritus
9of Engineering Enterprises, Incorporated in Sugar Grove; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Carole Michels was active in St. Gall Catholic
11Church in Elburn where she was an Eucharistic Minister; she
12enjoyed life, especially entertaining family and friends by
13cooking and baking; she also enjoyed traveling with her family
14and friends, and vacationing at Powers Lake, Wisconsin; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Carole Michels was preceded in death by her
16parents; grandsons, Geno and Ryan Migliorini; her mother and
17father-in-law, Marie and Ben Michels; her brothers-in-law,
18Bob, Art, and Bern Michels and Jim McCue Sr.; and 5 nieces and
19nephews; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Carole Michels is survived by her husband, Jim;
21sons, Sean (Valerie) Michels and Todd (Jacqui) Michels;
22daughter, Denise (Brian) Migliorini; sisters, Jean (Don)
23White, Joan McCue, and Judy (Jim) Kreitz; grandchildren, Abby,

1Nick, Maddy, and Sophie Michels, Greycn, Alexa, and Samantha
2Michels, and Gina and Nico Migliorini; sisters-in-law, Pat,
3Lil, and Lois Michels and Anna Marie Avram; her brother-in-law,
4Nello Avram; and 44 nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7Carole A. Michels, and extend our sincere condolences to her
8family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
9further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Carole Michels as an expression of
12our deepest sympathy.
