SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Rev. Thomas J. White, who passed away on
4July 5, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Thomas White was born in Oak Park and grew up in
6the Austin neighborhood on Chicago's West Side; he graduated
7from Archbishop Quigley Preparatory Seminary before earning a
8college degree from the University of St. Mary of the Lake in
9Mundelein; he subsequently attended seminary at St. Procopius
10College (now Benedictine University); and
 
11    WHEREAS, In 1959, Thomas White was ordained by the Joliet
12Diocese at the Cathedral of St. Raymond; over the next 46
13years, he was stationed at churches across DuPage County, with
14a one-year stay in Will County; from 1959 until 1964, he served
15at Sacred Heart Church in Lombard before spending a year at St.
16Ann Church in Crest Hill; he also served at Visitation Church
17in Elmhurst, St. Luke in Carol Stream, and Church of the Holy
18Ghost in Wood Dale; and
 
19    WHEREAS, In 1989, Thomas White was tapped to be the
20founding pastor at St. Daniel the Prophet, which was created to
21serve fast-growing residential areas on Wheaton's south side;
22prior to the church's construction, he oversaw the parish's

1first services at Wheaton Warrenville South High School; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Thomas White is survived by his sister, Virginia
3Vosicky, and his niece, Margaret "Margin" Vosicky; therefore,
4be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
7family and friends, mourn the passing of Rev. Thomas J. White;
8and be it further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of Thomas White as an expression of our
11sympathy.
