SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Daniel W. Callahan, Jr. of Oak Park, who
4passed away on April 30, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dan Callahan was born on April 22, 1939 in Oak
6Park; he attended St. Bernardine's Elementary School and
7Fenwick High School before graduating from Oak Park and River
8Forest High School; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Dan Callahan served his country as a member of the
10United States Marine Corps for 2 years; he subsequently served
11in the reserves for 2 more years; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Dan Callahan worked with his father, Daniel W.
13Callahan Sr., owner of D. W. Callahan and Sons Plumbing,
14Heating, and Lawn Sprinklers in Oak Park from the age of 17; he
15and his brother, Thomas, purchased the family business after
16his father's retirement; he subsequently retired from the
17business in 2004; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Dan Callahan was a member of the local Moose Club
19in Cicero and president of the Forest Park Kiwanis
20organization; he also volunteered through Kiwanis during the
21holidays, delivering food, gifts, and toys to children and

1families in need; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Dan Callahan enjoyed traveling and spending
3quality time with his wife and children; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Daniel W. Callahan, Jr. was the beloved husband of
5Betty; the loving father of Cheryl (Mark) Puknaitis, Ronald,
6John (Arlene), Karen Pappas, Kelly (Jeff) Chrusciel, Kimberly
7(Rick) Selby, and Courtney (Eddie) Cruz; the loving grandpa of
821; the great-grandpa of 5; the dear brother of Michael (Ann),
9Helen, Kathleen (Terry) O'Brien, Geri (Mike) Rice, the late
10Mary (the late Edwin) Ziebell, Thomas (the late Viola), Patsy
11(the late John) Collins, and Patrick Callahan; the devoted son
12of the late Daniel W. and Helen Callahan; and the dear uncle
13and friend of many; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
16family and friends, mourn the passing of Daniel W. Callahan,
17Jr.; and be it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Daniel W. Callahan, Jr. as an
20expression of our sympathy.
